Callum Smith fights for a place in the final of the World Boxing Super Series super middleweight tournament tonight, in arguably the biggest bout of his career.

The Liverpudlian was due to face German veteran Jurgen Braehmer on Saturday night but due to illness he has pulled out and been replaced by unheralded Dutch fighter Nieky Holzken.

The prize of a place in the final but fighting a little-known kickboxer instead of a former two-weight world champion has just taken the shine off the event.

If Smith wins, as he is expected to, then he will go on to face George Groves in an enormous all-British contest.

Here is all you need to know about the 27-year-old who is on the verge of conquering the world.

Why does it say ‘Autism’ on Smith’s shorts?

Callum’s younger sister Holly suffers with autism and so Smith, along with his three brothers all have the word sewn into their fight shorts to raise awareness.

Speaking to Boxing News, Callum said: ‘We wear “Autism” on our shorts to raise awareness and show support for other families dealing with autism, because for my mum and dad it is like a 24/7 job looking after her.

‘When she was first diagnosed we didn’t really know what it was. So when someone asks, I explain it. We’re doing our bit.’
