After the Diagnosis: Helping an Older Child Navigate the Journey

17 Sep @ 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Please join ASNC Autism Resource Specialist Nancy Nestor for this FREE informal workshop for parents and grandparents of children 8 years and older** recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Please note that this workshop is geared toward families of individuals who have received the diagnosis at an older age and  focuses more on the specific strategies needed to help adolescents and young adults navigate their new journey. It will be presented quarterly.

**If your recently diagnosed child is younger than 8, please see the calendar for a similar workshop, “After the Diagnosis: Get Answers, Get Help, Get Going!,” typically held in the Charlotte office on the third Thursday of each month.

If you are an autism self-advocate with a new diagnosis and would like to connect for training or information, please contact us for an appointment.

Workshop objectives:

  • To learn how autism may affect your child

  • To learn about options that may help your child

  • To learn how you can encourage your child in self-advocacy and independent life skills

  • To learn about resources to help your family

For more information, please contact Nancy Nestor at 704-894-9678 or nnestor@autismsociety-nc.org.
