Information Session for Professionals: Safety Skills for Youth with Autism
3 May @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Autism Edmonton is hosting a FREE presentation for professionals to learn more about developing capacity for independence at home in a safe way for youth on the autism spectrum.
Clinical behavioural specialist Cassidy Brown of Calgary’s Cassidy Brown Behaviour Consulting Services will be presenting about her newly-developed “Stay at Home Alone” program which will be offered as an Occasio pilot project. What sets this program apart from similar training courses is that it includes direct teaching and modelling in a small group setting, using methods suitable to neurodiverse learning profiles.
Cassidy will also speak about her SCAPE group programs (Skill building, Confidence, Acceptance, Personal Growth, Exposure). These programs are cost-shared between families and FSCD Calgary Region, and have recently been extended to the Red Deer Region. Similar arrangements in the Edmonton area are desirable.
This event will be of interest to service providers, independent therapists, FSCD Edmonton Region staff, Glenrose Autism Clinic staff, etc. Join us to learn about this important topic for the community and hear about how we can work to fill this service gap in the greater Edmonton area.
Registration on Eventbrite is required for this FREE event. Pizza lunch will be provided.
